About Us

We welcome all of Norwegian descent, and also those who have an interest in Scandinavian culture.   Vesterheim is a welcoming and culturally active group, who sponsor the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival, http://www.estesmidsummer.com held annually in Estes Park the last weekend in June.   About half our members participate there selling our baked goods, desserts, and crafts, or in running the festival itself.   We also participate in Trollheim's annual Christmas Fair.  The crafts are made by women in our Crafts Group, who meet monthly in various host homes.  Joy Gunderson teaches a monthly class in Hardangar and Bondesom .   Needleworkers get together at our monthly Handarbeider sessions to sew, talk and eat (what we do best).   Our Book Club meets regularly at "The Egg & I" to discuss works by Scandinavian authors.   Some of our members take classes at Trollheim Lodge in Rosemaling and Geneology, or are studying Norwegian together.   We help the city out on Jay Road with its anual Spring Clean-up every April.   Don't forget our monthly Members Meetings where there is always good food and an interesting program.
